Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair


We hope you can come and join us at Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair. We've a curated collection of craft, design, art, vintage and artisan food from Scotland & beyond. Enjoy browsing 40 stall over two floors, its the perfect time to shop for Christmas all under one roof. Meet the makers and buy unique gifts & eats for your friends and family, there's sure to be that special something!

Why not pick a prop and say cheese! Our pop up photobooth will be making a return visit to our Winter Fair, and expect a festive feel to some of our props!. And remember to share your shots with us on facebook and twitter, we’d love to see who strikes a pose on the day. You can use our Hashtag #LMandM There’s also some good old fashioned colouring in to keep the kiddiewinks amused, but we’ll not be at all surprised if we have some adults joining in too! Or in between shopping, you could enjoy a crafty workshop hosted by So Sew Pretty, suitable for children and adults.

Want a chance to win £50 AT Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair.......well get there early! The first 250 visitors through the door will get their names put in hat. One lucky winner will win a £50 Gift Voucher to spend at Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair on the 2nd Nov at Castle Douglas Town Hall. The Winner will be drawn as soon as we reach 250, and you'll need to be there to collect the prize as its only valid on the day of the Winter Fair. 
We open at 10am, so form an orderly queue!

Cotton Heart Studio
We’re really pleased to welcome back local business Cotton Heart Studio to our Winter Fair. Expect a wonderful selection of handmade crocheted accessories such as hats, ear-warmers, wrist-warmers and hair clips for babies, children and adults. She also makes little gifts like garlands and coasters for the home. The perfect festive finishing touch for your home.

Splashpoint Art
Splashpoint Art produce a range of unique and contemporary tableware from original art work by local D&G based artists. They also publish children’s titles – The Belties of Curleywee Farm and Charlotte’s Woolly Yarn and a range of merchandise to go with them. They sell a range of mugs, coasters, placemats, and prints.

Planet Jopeter
Planet Jopeter is a collaboration between Jo Gallant (studio textiles) and Pete Machell (woodwork/product design). We have been working together on ideas that we can produce in our own Galloway-based workshops and will be selling trays and containers.

Earths Crust Bakery
Are you a lover of bread? Well, you'll be delighted to hear that family run artisan baker's The Earth's Crust Bakery in the small village of Laurieston will be at our Winter Fair. They produce delicious slow fermented handmade breads. They sold out rather quickly at our last Fair so come early if you don't want to go home empty handed.

Little Vintique
Little Vintique are p
urveyors of vintage homewares & treasures and we'll be welcoming them along for the first time at Lady Magpie & Me. They have been busy sourcing acros the U.k and have lots of fabulous treasures to unveil at the Winter Fair.

Granny Sally’s Soap Kitchen
An Edinburgh based, family Run soap making company, we’re pleased to introduce Granny Sally’s Soap Kitchen with their playful and quirky handmade soaps and scrubs skincare which are all a play on food. They also create superb one of a kind vintage teacup candles and sundae candles right out of your favourite 50's malt shop.Weight Watchers magazine said that their vanilla bean rice scrub is the best scrub they have tried in years. Look out for their cheesecake soap too!

Once Upon a Time in the North
Once Upon a Time in the North will be back once more and heading over the border to join us at Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair. Textile designer Grace Rigby is the name behind Once Upon a Time in the North. She uses her skills in sewing and appliqué to make a range of fun and functional products, from unique scented pillows, quirky bags and pretty brooches. Her creations are fuelled by a passion for beautiful fabrics and an obsession with colour and order. And there are lots of handmade lovelies and haberdashery coming in her vintage suitcase!

Galloway Chillies
Galloway Chillies will be coming along for the very first time to our Winter Fair sadly the snow last year stopped them from taking part at our Spring Fair. They're a relatively new business, Launched in Oct 2012, producing their own range of preserves and supplying fresh chillies and plants. They're based in South West Scotland not far from Wigtown – Scotland’s National Book Town and are Scotland’s second chilli farm. With a range of chillies, ranging from mild to super hot. All our products use chillies which have been grown in Britain and they plan to eventually use their own home grown chillies.





Lilys Chocolate
Lily's Chocolates are a local business owned by Bobby & Tracy McCleary and we're delighted to be welcoming them along for the very first time to Lady magpie & Me. They specialise in bespoke, handmade chocolates & truffles. All of their produce is created using the highest quality ingredients, and every item is individually made by hand.

Jo Gallant
Hailing from Kircudbright, Jo Gallant is a well-established local designer-maker producing a constantly changing array of cushions, scarves and the like. She also commissions one off wall hangings.

Just My Cup of Tea
Inspired by picnics and afternoon tea, vintage and retro recycled by Just My Cup Of Tea. Expect vintage and recyled homewares including tea cup candles, cake stands, picnic ware and pretty things.

Runaway Baa Baa
Runaway Baa Baa works with local sheeps wool from their own rare breed manx loaghtan sheep and the sheep from my neighbouring farmers and smallholders. They handcard, spin and crochet, knit or weave to create unique slippers with sheepskin soles, individual clothing and home furnishings. They also make a small number of items using other fibres and recycled woolens.

flossy teacake love nothing more than playing with imagination and childhood memories through mixing and combining ceramics, textiles and mixed-media, which develop into curious 2D and 3D illustrations of village life. Their work has a childlike unpredictability and a nostalgic charm and they have purposely manipulated scale and proportion, removing a conventional sense of reality.

Choose a cheese
High quality cows, goats and sheep cheese from Scotland and further afield. Expect a delicious selection of local, national, and international artisan cheeses at the Winter Fair.






The Canny Squirrel
We're really pleased to welcoming back The Canny Squirrel to our Winter Fair this year. Based in Glasgow they design handmade tweed cushions. Using a combination of new and vintage British tweed for the covers and cut felt animals, they then add free machine embroidery to bring the cushions to life.

Stella & Bella Vintage
Stella & Bella Vintage sell a wide range of fun and pretty vintage homewares. They include: a wide range of vintage glasswares; beautiful teasets and pretty vintage trios; a range of good quaility kitchenalia; and lovely vintage linens and fabrics. We can't wait to see what treasures they'll be bringing along to our Winter Fair.

Cakes by Agnes

Inspired by her visit to Lady Magpie & Me. Cakes by Agnes will be bringing a a selection of handmade vintage style christmas cakes to the Winter Fair. We are sure you'll give her a lovely welcome as its her first time at our fair.


Love Ellie
We will be welcoming along Love Ellie who'll be showcasing their handmade handbags, accessories and homewares. Their veggie friendly and made from traditional and sustainable materials. Love Ellie style is quirky with a vintage twist. The vegan bags and wallets they design are registered with the Vegan Society and carry their trademark logo.

Tactile Tales
Tactile Tales are a small, independent, UK company publishing innovative books and accompanying aromatherapy massage oils for parents and children; books that link story telling and massage together and are beautifully illustrated and easy to use. Our stories are fired by our love of nature and celebrate the bond between parent and child through the wonderful medium of plants and animals from around the world. Our aim is to promote a loving, bonding experience between parents and children to encourage well being and a love of nature.

KGRGlass
We’re delighted to welcome along locally based KGR Glass once more to Lady Magpie & Me. They’ll be showcasing a range of window and wall hangers, pictures and freestanding art made from stained, copperfoil and fused glass. There are some delightful new festive designs coming too.

Gene Howe Love Knitting

We will be welcoming back locally based Gene Howe Love Knitting to our Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair. She uses a mix of hand, machine knitting and felting using 100%wool and yarn with a high content of wool to create handmade lovelies. Expect more of her rather delightful knitted bears plus lots of knitted designs perfect for the wintertime! 

Tootie McCloed
Tootie McLeod is inspired by vintage items and flowers. This time round he'll be selling a specially selected range of mainly 1930s - 50s ceramics including lots of wonderful two handled vases for flowers and berries (ideal for Christmas displays) and some cute ceramic animal friends.





Blooms Florist
The design team at Blooms Florist, led by Margaret and Dawn Robson continually strive to create truly beautiful, bespoke, inspiring and innovative Floristry. Using only the finest flowers and materials available they consistently produce beautiful floral works of art to the delight of their clients. They'll be bringing along fresh flower cupcakes and tea cups, corn stooks, lavender bags, hearts and pin cushions to the Winter Fair.

Kirsty Muir Jewellery
Kirsty Muir Jewellery is originally from the Doon Valley in Ayrshire but now lives in West Lothian. Having studied jewellery design for 4 years she now creates jewellery in her garden studio. She likes making quirky jewellery from sterling silver and incorporates bright colours, textures and fabrics in many of the pieces. Her most recent range features an etched Fair Isle pattern which she teams with funky felt in bright zingy shades. 

Abbotts Chocolates

Now it wouldn't be Christmas without chocolate, so its a good job we have Abbotts Chocolates coming along to the Fair. Based in the Scottish Border town of Langholm, Abbotts Chocolates specialises in hand-made, delicious chocolates. Its their very first time at our events so we're looking forward to tasting their wares.

Grandma Sue
Gorgeous vintage inspired gifts, homewares & accessories created using salvaged, upcycled and preloved materials; sitting side by side with an eclectic mix of original vintage & retro collectables. Grandma Sue is run by the volunteers at Sue Ryder - the pieces they sell are created by the volunteers from materials donated to the shop. Grandma Sue is also non-profit making as the proceeds from each sale made is donated back to the charity. 

Grannie Jean's
We've another local food producer joining us at the Winter Fair. Fresh traditionally Home Baked Products, Meat and Vegetarian Varieties of Pasties, Meat Pies & Quiches. Traditionally made Pork pies, inc Layered Pork Pies eg: Pork and Game, Pork and Haggis.


Tiny Tots Togs
My mum taught me the joys of sewing from a young age. We used to spend many an afternoon being creative and making all sorts of things. The patterns Tiny Tots Togs use today are from the dresses her sister and her used to wear in our childhood. They hope your little ones enjoy wearing them as much as she enjoys making them!

Caroline Nash Crafts
Caroline Nash Crafts will be returning once more to Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair. Lots of visitors to our fairs have fallen in love with her handmade Contemporary, quirky ceramics with a vintage-feel. Come and meet Caroline, she’ll be travelling across the border from her studio in Cumbria to join us on the 2nd November.

Roncadora Press
Roncadora Press will be joining us at Lady Magpie & Me in Castle Douglas. They produce artists books and limited edition handmade poetry pamphlets.

Kaixe
Based in South West Scotland, Kaixe create cupcakes - both mini and regular sized - and celebration cakes for every occasion. Kaixe will be joining us once more at Lady Magpie & Me, so get yourself along to our Winter Fair for some of their tasty cupcakes and cakes, their bloomin delicious!

Sam Samson 
Sam Samson has spent the last 25 years re inventing things. Turning old bobbins into twine holders, creating toys, lamps and hourglasses. You'll find weathered oak,scorched painted,treen tables chairs,lino prints and more. Come and meet the maker at the Winter Fair, its their first time at the fair so I hope you'll make them feel very welcome. 

Helen Ryman Arts
Locally based Helen Ryman Arts will be joining us at Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair. She will be showcasing Oil paintings, Limited edition Giclee prints and Greetings cards of the people, places and animals of Galloway. 

Morag Macpherson Textiles
We're thrilled to welcome back locally based Morag Macpherson Textiles to our Lady Magpie & Me. Morag creates surface pattern for textiles and wallpaper, her patterns are influenced by different cultures, art movements in history, natural and urban formations. These illustrations are then digitally printed onto pure silks, natural linens, fine wools, crisp cottons and wallpapers. She sells limited edition scarves, cushions, throws, bags, wall hangings and a range of one-off wearable art. 

Silver Tree Studio 
We're looking forward to welcoming along Heather Andrews to Lady Magpie & Me. Heather is a qualified jeweller based in Dumfries & Galloway. She designs and creates eye-catching, yet wearable ethical jewellery. Beautiful organic textures, textile inserts and the imprint of real leaves highlight my recycled silver and copper jewellery. She also creates bio-degradable jewellery. A wide range of gloriously bright, colourful and inexpensive items are made by fusing tiny pieces of bio-degradable plastic. These include cute bird earrings and brooches, kiltpins and striped cufflinks and tie clips. 

Goodbye Norma Jean 
Goodbye, Norma Jean is travelling over the border and setting up shop at Lady Magpie & Me Winter Fair. "All killer, no filler!"-that's the rule at GNJ! Everything is stylist- picked from far and wide, laundered, mended, often customised and priced to reflect condition and rarity value...an eclectic melting-pot of magnificence, from the sublime to the "Cor, blimey!", from the 1890's to the 1980's!
